Mission Statement

We empower BIPOC Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing individuals, and advocates to embrace their heritage languages, cultures, and intersectional identities. Together, we build stronger families, vibrant communities, and inclusive education spaces where every BIPOC Deaf person can thrive.

Vision Statement

Together, We Thrive!

Core Values

Transform Deaf Education – Creating inclusive learning through training, advocacy, and leadership development.

Empower Families – Nurturing BIPOC Deaf children with love, language, and cultural pride.

Strengthen Community – Building connections across heritages and sign languages to celebrate intersectional identities and drive change.

Our Story

Thrive Foundation for the Deaf was born from a grassroots vision to create affirming, language-rich environments for Black and Brown Deaf children and families facing systemic barriers. What started as a community-driven initiative has evolved into a national nonprofit organization focused on equity-driven education, Deaf-led advocacy, and culturally sustaining resources.

Our journey began with a commitment to providing inclusive education, advocacy, and community engagement rooted in linguistic and cultural affirmation. We empower Deaf, DeafDisabled, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals—especially from BIPOC communities—to access language, lead, teach, and thrive in their identities.

With over 100 years of combined experience in Deaf education, bilingual curriculum design, advocacy, and partnerships with leading institutions, our team is dedicated to building pathways for individuals to connect, grow, and empower themselves within the Deaf community.

Join us in our mission to foster growth, connection, and empowerment for all individuals within the Deaf community, as we continue to advocate for language equity, accessibility, and cultural preservation.
